Course Outline | | Examination | |
The scheme of distribution of marks for the examination is as follows. Each theory paper consists of 100 marks distributed as, 60 marks for university written examination and 40 marks for the internal assessment, which includes 10 marks for attendance, 10 marks for assignments and seminar presentation and 15 marks for internal written examination and 5 marks for the over all performance of the students.
The attendance is taken into account separately for each paper and the systems followed as follows: Attendance of 80% - Compulsory Attendance in the range of 80% - 100% - 10 marks).

Organizational Orientation (Semester - I)
During the first semester the students shall visit at least 5 industrial/business organizations with a view to bringing about an integration of the theory imparted and practice of the profession in the actual environment. They have to visit the plant in order to have an idea about the production process. Besides having a discussion with HR manager on human resource issues, the students should collect following information from the organization during the visits:
i. Information about the industry ii. Information about the organization iii. Personnel/Human Resource related issues iv. Industrial Relations v. Unique policies/practices vi. A SWOT analysis of the organization
They are expected to collect data regarding these aspects which may be obtained through onsite observation, interaction with managers of the organizations, company reports/promotional materials during their visits and from other sources like print and electronic media and from internet. After the organizational visit, students shall make presentation on the area assigned to them and also submit a report on the visit.

Organizational Study (Semester - II)
During the second semester, the students are required to undertake an organizational study in an industrial/business organization for a period of 3 to 4 weeks (may be immediately after the second semester examination). They shall spend a minimum of 15 days in the organization, attached to Human Resource Department, to acquire knowledge on various organizational activities with special attention on HRM functions. They shall submit a report of the organizational study within two weeks of the completion of their study. The performance of the students shall be evaluated on the basis of the feedback given by the particular company's Supervising Manager, reports submitted, presentations made by them on the study, attendance and Viva-Voce examination conducted by a panel of examiners including practicing managers. | |
Organizational Internship (semester - III)
In the third semester, the students are to be attached to an industrial/business organization one day every week during the course. They will have to be in the organization for a minimum of 30 days with a view to achieving maximum integration between theory and practice. The students shall expose themselves to all important areas of Management with a special emphasis on the HRM functions of the organization. The performance of the students shall be evaluated on the basis of the feedback given by the company supervising manager, reports submitted, presentation made by them on the study, attendance and Viva-Voce examination conducted by a panel of examiners including practicing managers. | |
Project Work (Semester - IV)
The students are required to undertake a Project Study at the end of the fourth semester for a period of not less than 5 weeks (30 days) in an organization preferably outside the State. This study is intended to equip the students with more practical knowledge on a specific HRM functional area. The students are required to prepare weekly reports describing the progress of the project before finalizing the consolidated project report.
Research Project report shall carry 200 marks. Out of the total 200 marks, 100 marks shall be for the written report to be awarded by the university valuation, 50 marks for the internal assessment to be awarded by the faculty of the college and 50 marks shall be for oral defense of the report by each student before a board constituted for this purpose.
The classes are scheduled between 9:30.a.m. and 5:00.p.m.
