A VALUE EDUCATION PROJECT

Strength of adolescents and youth is the strength of every nation.

As every one knows, adolescents and youth are the makers of the nation. They are supposed to conserve and safeguard the generations to come. It is therefore a dire necessity to groom the young ones in such a way that they are capable of preparing a promising generation.

In the present globalised scenario, the lifestyles of people have changed considerably. Due to the influence of different cultural backgrounds the world over, we have reached a situation where nobody is able to stick on to a particular style of culture he/she was practicing from the past. Just emulating or copying down what is practised in advanced nations does not seem to be so wise and intelligible.

Traditionally India had been under the influence of religious beliefs and faiths which were sufficient for the people and society to understand the importance of values and ethics in human life. Now the attitudes of the people have changed due to many factors. The present family systems also have paved way for the influence of some sort of external culture.  Of course, as a necessary part of growth and development, there should be some transformation in the cultural aspects also. But that transformation must be gradual and sustainable. Otherwise, it is bound to lose the equilibrium. The present generation must be of quality and hard work. They should be equipped with all sorts of traits which would guide them properly. They should be good spokes persons of Ethics and Value system which will enable the formation and retention of a refined society.

Keeping all these in mind, DIST has formulated an activity club, under De Paul Centre for Research & Development (DCRD), meant for giving education on Values and Ethics to the students.

It is a matter of pride to mention that all the students in our institution are getting the up to date coaching and training for their professional excellence from the qualified and committed faculty members as well as external resource persons. But the management recognized the fact that the professional education alone would not be sufficient in moulding a comprehensive personality unless he/she is supplemented with the knowledge on Values and Ethics which would be capable of guaranteeing the formation of a generation with necessary qualities in life. Only by doing so the professionalism would be complete. So our aim is to help the formation of a fully professionalized generation with all the positive qualities appended with Values and Ethics.

Now it is planned to hold at least one seminar (or Workshop) session each month by selecting a very relevant topic which covers the areas such as: Morality in human life, Human rights, Cyber crimes, Conservation of energy and environment, Control of pollution, Respecting parents and elders, Sharing habits etc.
