Clubs and Associations

Clubs and Associations are platforms where students explore their career, practice their craft, have fun, and socialise at the same time. The School of Commerce is well equipped with active clubs and associations for moulding its students. Every year, office bearers are elected to coordinate various programmes under the auspices of respective clubs and associations.

Club Beta: An Association of Commerce Students


"Being Tested…"

An active and efficacious association Club-Beta has been functioning within the department for many years. The association has an incredible influence on students' personal and professional upliftment. It organises a popular event, La-Foire - a trade fair, every year. La-Foire is a platform where students of commerce can run their business for one day. It enables them to show off their talents in trade, co-ordination, sales, accounting, etc. Club Beta also organises many events such as seminars, debate competitions, quiz competitions, etc.

To build up young professionals from the campus to the competitive world.

Mission

The association offers platform to perform commerce students to be competitive in the modern world as an entrepreneur & manager through group efforts and creative thought.

Objectives

1. To act as a platform for the development of commerce students in curricular and extra-curricular fields.
2. To mould the student especially with co-ordination and managerial skills.
3. To enhance the caliber of students as an entrepreneur.

Policies

1. Every commerce student is a member of Club-Beta by default.
2. There will be a teacher in-charge every year to co-ordinate the activities of Club Beta.
3. Every year, elected students as office bearers will be responsible for the smooth functioning of this association.
4. All members of Club-Beta should abide the Department and College policies.

Report - La-foire ‘23

The Commerce Association, Club Beta inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Johny Chacko Mangalath V C (PRINCIPAL, DiST) by lighting the lamp. Ms. Abeesha Babu of M. Com’ 22 (President- Club Beta) extended the welcome speech for the official ceremony. The inaugural address was given by Rev. Dr. Johny Chacko Mangalath V C (PRINCIPAL, DiST) and he delivered The Oath to the newly elected heads of Club Beta. Rev. Fr. Dr Norby Paul Vithayathil VC (Vice Principal Dist) extended his heartfelt facilitation for all the activities of Club Beta. Ms. Tharu Jossy, Association in charge gave an idea about various activities of the Club Beta during the academic year 2023-24. Ms. Anna Maria Jacob of B. Com ’21 FT (Secretary, Club-Beta) conveyed the vote of thanks. After the inauguration, the Sales Competition was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Mathew Malieckal VC (Vice Principal, DiST) at 10.20 am by making the first purchase. Members of DiST family had been assigned a schedule to visit the shop.

We had an eminent Judging panel with 3 members. They were Mr. Colbe (School of English), Mr. Akhil (School of Professional Development) and Ms. Chinju (School of Management). The students were able to attain a sale of Rs. 115,000 (approx). Various cultural activities are arranged by the students. The sales competition came to an end by 4.00 pm. Rev Fr. Lindo Puthuparambil VC, Finance Director, DiST, has distributed the prize money for the winners of La-foire’23. The students of B. Com 21 (F&T) won the 1st Prize and received a cash prize of Rs.4000 & M. Com ’22 won the 2nd Prize and received Rs. 2500.

All the teaching and non-teaching staff and students rendered their wholehearted support to make this event a remarkable one. The program came to an end by 4. 30 p.m. after the bestowment of citations.

Intenza – M Com Club


BEING TESTED…

An active club for PG students of Commerce, ‘Intenza’ is also effective in the department, which helps the students get practical learning experience. Every year, Intenza co-ordinates many programmes like work shops, seminars, quiz competitions, new business plan competitions, etc.

Report

Intenza, an association of M.Com students was inaugurated by Mr.Nikhil Gopalakrishnan , CEO of Pentad Securities on 4th October 2023 at 10 am by lighting the lamp followed by his inaugural speech. REV FR, ( Lindo Puthuparambil V C,Finance Director,DiST) presided over the function. Ms. Sandra Antu (Student Co-ordinator) have extended the welcome speech. Dr. Anosh Paul (HOD – School of Commerce) have felicitated the function. Ms. Manju Jithesh (Association in charge) delivered the Vote of Thanks.

After the inauguration, a Seminar on Financial Planning was conducted for M. Com students by Mr.Nikhil Gopalakrishnan the Chief Guest which was very useful to them.

An educational Quiz and cultural programmes were conducted by students in the afternoon. All the teaching, non-teaching staff and students rendered their whole hearted support to make this event a successful one. The programme came to an end by 4.00 pm.
